2000 YEARS OF
ENTRUSTED HERITAGE
Passing down a tradition,
transcending time
Batik is printed cloth art passed down from one generation to another, Batik Blok is made using a pre-designed stencil made out of aluminium & steel to enable the stamping of wax unto a piece of cloth to create beautiful designs.

HISTORY
The history of Batik blok can be a little of a conundrum of facts. Its essence can be traced back to India and Africa, both very rich cultures brought their heritage to this part of the globe through trade many centuries ago. For global onlookers Batik is directly translated to be known as ‘to dot’.
Their main trade back then was with Indonesia, and soon after the art was learned and was transferred to Malaya (present Malaysia) over the years. Malaysian Batik has grown into its own brand and design since then. The crack observed on the batik found its inception here amongst the Terengganu Batik makers.
If closely studied the designs of Malaysian Batik is largely based on floral and circularistic images, this is due to the Islamic taboo of having images of animals on design materials. However the butterfly has been very much incorporated into many designs and has become an exception.

Batik Terengganu
Directly influenced from Indonesia. The Terengganu batik is a legacy which is directly descended from Indonesia.
It is a dying, art because the younger generation prefers to work in shopping malls, and other more in-trend places.
